Stocks jumped Friday, fueled for a second day by the Federal Reserve's promise that it would take aggressive additional steps to try to revive the flagging U.S. economy.
The Dow rose 53.51 points, or 0.4 percent, to 13,593.37.
The Standard & Poor's 500 rose 5.78, or 0.4 percent, to 1,465.77.
The Nasdaq composite index rose 28.12, or 0.9 percent, to 3,183.95.
For the week:
The Dow is up 286.73 points, or 2.2 percent.
The S&P 500 is up 27.85, or 1.9 percent.
The Nasdaq is up 47.53, or 1.5 percent.
For the year:
The Dow is up 1,375.81 points, or 11.3 percent.
The S&P 500 is up 208.17, or 16.6 percent.
The Nasdaq is up 578.80, or 22.2 percent.
